Important if you are approaching age 55 and are considering on-going re-employment.

If you re enter full time or part time ongoing employment with a Commonwealth Government employer who participates in the CSS, your entitlement to CSS deferred benefits will cease from the date of your reappointment.  Should you remain so employed until passing your 55th birthday, or you are reappointed after your 55th birthday prior to claiming your deferred benefit, your benefits upon again ceasing to be a member will be based on age retirement, not on the deferred benefit option (unless you are subsequently  involuntarily retired).

If you re enter full time non ongoingemployment with a Commonwealth Government employer who participates in the CSS, your entitlement to CSS deferred benefits will not cease unless you formally elect to rejoin the CSS. 

If you re enter casual or part time non ongoing employment with a Commonwealth Government employer who participates in the CSS, your entitlement to CSS deferred benefits will not cease as you are not eligible to rejoin the CSS.
